Kazimierz Wacaw Korpalski, who was known as Eddie, was a Polish soldier based at Pennylands Camp, Auchinleck.
Eddie was born on the 8th June 1925 at Warszawa, which is Polish for Warsaw, Macowieckie, Poland. His parents were Wladyslaw Korpalski who was born in 1886 in Warsaw, Macowieckie and Anna Mlotkowska who was born in 1886 in the village of Wichorowo, Poland and who were married in Warsaw in 1907.
When Eddie was 22 years old he married local girl Jean Collins McBirnie at Lugar Parish Church.

On 28th May 1947 at Parish Church, Lugar, Kazimierz Korpalski, private, Polish Army, bachelor, Pennylands Camp, Auchinleck. Father: Warslawa Korpalski, able seaman, deceased Mother: Malkalowska Korpalski ms [ ] deceased to Jean McBirnie age 20, bus conductress, spinster, 415 Brick Row, Lugar. Father: Andrew McBirnie, coalminer Mother: Mary McBirnie ms Wilson.
Jean Collins McBirnie was born on 16th October 1926 in Galston, Ayrshire. Her parents were Andrew Tait McBurnie, who was born in 1904 in Hurlford and died 3rd January 1979 in Old Cumnock and Mary Collins who was born 4th November 1904 in Lugar and died 14th April 1966 at 24 Glen Avenue, Cumnock.
From 1949-1952 Eddie and Jean lived in Hut No. 34A at Pennylands. They moved down to the Midlands in England, probably because of work. Their marriage broke down, they were divorced and they both married again.
Jean married Keith H. Clarke in 1974 at Derby, England. Jean's eldest son lived in Australia and became engaged to be married. Their Engagement Notice was in "The Age", which is an Australian newspaper, on 21/12/1976.
O'Connell - Korpalski
The engagement is announced between Hazel, second daughter of Captain and Mrs Jean O'Connell of 'Tarameade', Toolem Vale and Scott eldest son of Mrs Jean Clarke of Derby, England and Mr. K. Korpalski of Staffordshire, England.
Jean and her husband Keith emigrated to Australia and both died there, Jean on 28th October 2020 in Melbourne and Keith on 4th May 2010 also in Melbourne.
Eddie married Elizabeth A. Hinnels in July 1975 at Swadlincote, Derbyshire and he died there in 1995.
